I’m sure so many of us must have experimented with potatoes in one way or another this past week, just as my niece did. She actually started a week before I posted the article and in Just 2weeks, not only has her acne, which was all over her face cleared by at least up to 70-80percent. Her face is also noticeably brighter. You needed to see how happy and elated she was as she shared her experience with me. Now, let us look at the great health benefits of potatoes and its juice.

The Health Benefits Of Potato Juices

Potatoes have a high concentration of antioxidants including natural polyphenols, which are micronutrients present in a large number of plants. There is emerging evidence that they play a role in cell function and reducing inflammation, so these benefits may extend to the skin. Fresh foods are likely to contain higher levels of nutrients and increased concentrations of vitamin C, which is an essential component of good health and great skin.

DETOX

Potato juice contains all-important vitamin C that can help to strengthen your immune system. Keep your immune system healthy by drinking a glass of potato juice, and your body will be able to resist infections. Toxin overload can deteriorate the immune defense. Potato juice helps to flush out the liver and gallbladder.

Weight Loss

The juice of raw potato helps in stimulating the digestive system. It is anti-inflammatory and alkaline by nature, thereby helping to restore the PH balance of the body. Drinking raw potato juice cleanses the liver and prevents and relieves constipation, speed up digestion and naturally promote weight loss. If you drink it every day for a two-week period, potato juice may help you to lose weight.

How to Choose Your Potato

  • Avoid green or sprouted potatoes, which do contain toxins, making them poisonous.
  • Always use ripe, spot free, new sprout potatoes.
    Increase its taste by adding carrot, apple, lemon, honey juices or herbs like sage, nettle, and spirulina.
  • Potato juice may lead to diarrhea in some cases.
    Avoid drinking this juice if you have stomach trouble.
    Look for clean, smooth, firm-textured potatoes with no cuts, bruises or discoloration.

How to Store Your Potato

  • Do not store your potato in refrigerators. They are too cold for potatoes and can ruin their taste and cause discoloration when cooked.
  • Place the potatoes in a cardboard box, paper bag, mesh bag or basket to ensure good ventilation. Plastic bags won’t allow them to breathe and will shorten their shelf life
  • Don’t wash potatoes before storing. Dampness promotes early spoilage.
